Hey Friends!

We have already stepped into 2011, a year that we all wish to be more creative than the yester years. The emphasis being on quality, creativity and innovation, influential trends have already been released around the world for designers, stylists and product developers, to plan and design the collections for 2011.  After the gone by weak seasons that the fashion and textile professionals have experienced, 2011 certainly promises a time when things have already started elevating and certainty is returning.

The posts on this blog which have been a huge hit this season are as follows.

Besides these above latest trend directions by some of the most influential trend and forecasting companies/exhibitions across the globe, I think it is important to share with you all the exclusive news regarding what will be in vogue, in the field of textile design, fashion design, product design, patterns, designs and colors.

1-      Buoyant colors, lustrous surfaces, less structured fluid fabrics, ultra-sheer weights, subtle surface interest, large-scale prints and new denim treatments will be showcased in most collections designed for Spring 2011.

2-      Denim would be used widely throughout the year, with magnitude on what goes into it and what goes with it. This would enable producing a lot of innovative collections with Denim that is washed and embroidered to look like indigo-dyed silk or an ultra light denim woven of fine twisted cotton. The denim look in a linen/cotton/metal blend with a substantially glazed surface is also a preference for innovative development.

3-      Novelty jacquards and fil coupés will hit a lot of collections. Some being double-faced, or with random crushed surface and opaque patterns on translucent backgrounds. There are bi-stretch silk shantung bottom weights, lacy effects and stripe combinations that will remain in vogue especially in Europe.

4-      Glossy and transparent fabrics; white-on-white prints; ombré check taffeta treated to different finishing applications; and wet, shiny or crinkled looks are other fabrics of importance.

5-      Featherweight, silky smooth to touch, water-repellent taffetas and art silks would be used widely.

6-      A super-light, polyurethane-finished mechanical stretch fabric is another fabric for techno- creative development.

7-      Dimensional jacquards, printed burn-outs, understated tweeds, ruffled all-overs and cobweb effects, blurred abstract prints will be seen majorly on knits.

8-      Printed fabrics are making a big come back in 2011. Digital printed fabrics, despite being expensive will give a huge creative power to designers. They are something that any designer would happily look for in order to invite novelty, frequent and fast deliveries of products in small quantities. I think this should be a hit everywhere this year.

9-      Spectacular, unusual jungle scenes and African tribal designs will be strong sellers. Novel patterns include photographic florals, exploded engineered florals, luminous effects, blurred images and pixilated landscapes on ombré backgrounds.

10-   A group of underwater designs, with waves, fish skins and swirling patterns. Color blocking, dots and spots, tribal abstracts, and aquatic flowers will take a fresh platform.

11-   Tile prints, Ikats, African tribal patterns, huge geometrics and flowers of all sizes, Airbrush stroke effects and pattern mix will be well taken throughout 2011.

12-   Hand-painted flowers, sophisticated skins in patchwork pattern, tie and dye effects, Ikat florals, fish skins, abstract butterfly wings and African ethnics are exclusive patterns to look for.

13-   Anti odor, moisture-wicking, peach, wrinkle-free, paper touch and water repellent finishes will take the main role in defining the surface of fabrics.

Hope these points prove useful in designing fabrics, patterns and designs for all forth coming collections in the year 2011.

Cheers!
